This time we’re going to be looking at what kind of clothes are worn in boystyle fairy kei! This includes popular brands, items, and styling.
This is the third and final from my Boyish Fairy kei series; Basics, How To Boyish Fairy Kei: Hair, and Cute boy style clothing & where to find it.
♡ ♡ ♡
NOTE: when I say masculine in this article, I’m going by the stereotypical definition! Boyish isn’t only worn by guys but anyone who leans towards the stereotypical “masculine” side of the gender spectrum.

Boystyle fairy kei is all about combining cool and cute, and finding the perfect balance between the two! You can’t forget layering either, since this is a huge aspect of fairy kei fashion - without this, it just looks like general pastel fashion (;゚Д゚)
But the question is, how do you find this balance? At first, most items might not look like they’d work in a boyish coordinate, but once you find this balance it’s easy!
The real differences with boystyle fairy kei when compared to the normal “girly” coord are the hair, and the bottoms. Honestly, the upper half doesn’t really differ!
Cute-style boyish is literally just fairy kei with pants or shorts - so go about coordinating as usual! If you’re after something more cool then go for something a little more sporty and sharp.
A super popular choice for fairy boy bottoms are PJ pants. They’re soft, cute, and almost always have a cute design! The Little Twin Stars trousers in the above image are actually pyjama pants♪

I have previously made a post on my Tumblr which mentions how you could DIY trousers to make them cuter on a budget~

1: Harem pants!
Harem pants are super popular, and were often worn in old KERA-style pop coords. The most popular designs are produced by 6%DOKIDOKI:

However, due to their popularity they’re often out of stock, meaning you’ll have to wait to find them secondhand or find an alternative.
But where can you find cute alternatives?

These can easily be coordinated with regular fairy kei items - sweaters, t-shirts, jackets..!
Here are some other options:

2: Shorts (baggy & pumpkin pants)
Shorts are particularly popular, but just any old shorts! There are two different kinds which are particularly adorable.

Pumpkin pants are named after their “pumpkin shaped” legs, and add volume to your coord much more than a regular pair of shorts. This means they contribute to the fairy feeling!
They also come in cute designs which look adorable peeking out the bottom of an oversized sweater.
The most common type found in fairy kei have elastic around the leg, making them look rounder. If you can’t find pumpkin pants, you could try make your own!

Baggy shorts:
Another option is baggy shorts! They have a cute, boyish feeling to them and are easy to layer.

A cute hat adds a boyish charm! They have a slightly sporty feeling, but can still be adorable at the same time. Not to mention, you can easily DIY your own original headgear. You can add writing or embroidery on the visor, and even attach cute pins! I’d like to do a DIY hat tutorial in the future, so look forwards to it~
They don’t have to be brand, but you can look towards brands for inspiration. Here are some cute hat coords to inspire you☆
